Nothing places the big energy of nature into perspective fairly just like the power of our planet’s oceans. On a reef off of the North Wanting O’ahu, Hawaii, a few of the world’s most famously thrilling and harmful waves current attractive circumstances for browsing in an space referred to as the Banzai Pipeline. Photographer Kevin Krautgartner celebrates the mesmerizing, barrel-shaped breakers in Pipeline, a sequence of aerial pictures highlighting the formidable power of water crashing and whorling alongside the shore.
“Personally, waves at all times get my consideration once I’m near a shoreline or the ocean,” Krautgartner says. “For me, they’re particularly distinctive as a result of they’re a pure phenomenon that may create a way of awe and surprise… making a rhythmic sample that may be each soothing and exhilarating.” Going past documentation, he focuses on particulars like construction and kind, analyzing the basic interactions between gentle, water, and air.
