Emily Van Hoff merges her background in graphic design with the sensible crafting expertise she picked up as a toddler in her vibrant wall hangings. From her residence studio in Chicago, Van Hoff pays homage to girls crafters of generations previous as she stitches geometric quilts in daring colour palettes of bubblegum pink, lavender, and cobalt. Thick stripes, bisected circles, and clear rows of stitches comprise most of the curved items, which the artist describes as a translation of “my digital design into a wonderful tactile object.”
