The IFPI (Worldwide Federation of the Phonographic Trade) not too long ago launched their 2021 report wanting on the world music trade as a complete. The IFPI experiences that the trade grew by a whopping 18.5% in 2021 to $25.9 billion, half of which was due to streaming. Paid subscription streaming revenues have been $12.3 billion in 2021, which accounts for 523 million customers worldwide. That quantity will increase to $16.9 billion when accounting for advertising-supported (the free model of) streaming.

The one place rock actually reveals up is in vinyl gross sales (which had an insane 12 months within the US), with Nirvana‘s Nevermind promoting 274,000 copies in 2021 and Pink Floyd‘s Darkish Aspect Of The Moon promoting 272,000.
