Harnessing the vitality of water in movement, Zheng Lu’s metallic sculptures seem frozen in time. The Beijing-based artist defies utilitarian or industrial associations with metal, creating rigidity between the fabric and the fluid types. Difficult our expectations and understanding of physics, clean, chrome-like surfaces mirror the environment and alter within the mild because the viewer strikes round them, additional including to the notion that the sculpture itself is in movement. In among the works, Zheng composes surfaces of hundreds of Chinese language characters derived from historic texts and poems, nodding to early Chinese language philosophers who studied bodily rules of the pure world to higher perceive cosmological mysteries.

Zheng’s exhibition Liquid Narratives runs March 16 to 29 at HOFA Gallery in London, marking the artist’s first present within the U.Ok., and yow will discover extra of his work on his web site.
